Art is in the Tie of the Beholder

Ever stare at a bunch of neckties and think, “Hmm, those would be great to use for sculpting?” Well, artist Seema Nusrat did. Her decision to use ties as her medium came when visiting a lighthouse where she saw a bunch of ties being unloaded.

Seema started her sculptures by first sketching large charcoal or pencil outlines then would construct a metal skeletal structure to cover with neckties.

Necktie sculpture‘Yellow Mellow’ was a structure made with all kinds of yellow ties. Seema had marvelously created an irregular figure of a woman without any facial features. Initially the artist noticed human figures from where she began looking at drapes without figures and capturing what she observed.

Who would of thought that your necktie collection could possibly be a work of art hanging in your closet.

I am desperately hunting for a necktie item that we have seen several men wearing at ballroom dances. It completely covers the knot on their necktie (or maybe replaces the knot and the tie just pulls through it). The ones we have seen are gold with cz’s or chrystals. I have tried to find it in tux shops, jewelry shops and online with no success - do you have any suggestions?
