Bow Tie Knot
Tying a Bow Tie knot can be difficult. That’s probably the reason for the clip-on bow ties. Other than proms or weddings not many men wear them, but they can be an exciting addition to a man’s wardrobe. If you are going to wear a bow tie stay away from the clip-ons and learn how to tie a real bow tie. Follow the step-by-step instructions below:

1. Place the bow tie around your neck, situating it so that end “A” is longer than end “B” |

2. Cross “A” over “B” |

3. Bring “A” under and through the loop |
![]() |
4. Double “B” over itself to form the base loop of the tie |

5. Loop “A” over the center of the loop you just formed |
![]() |
6. Holding everything in place, double “A” back on itself and poke it through the loop behind the tie |

7. Adjust the tie by tugging at the ends of it and straightening the center knot |
If you can master the bow tie knot you should be able to handle tying the Four in Hand knot, Half Windsor knot, Full Windsor knot and the Pratt knot.
