Bow Tie Knot

Tying a Bow Tie knot can be difficult. That’s probably the reason for the clip-on bow ties. Other than proms or weddings not many men wear them, but they can be an exciting addition to a man’s wardrobe. If you are going to wear a bow tie stay away from the clip-ons and learn how to tie a real bow tie. Follow the step-by-step instructions below:

Bow Tie Knot 1 1. Place the bow tie around your neck,
situating it so that end “A” is longer than end “B”
Bow Tie Knot 2 2. Cross “A” over “B”
Bow Tie Knot 3 3. Bring “A” under and through the loop
Bow Tie Knot 4 4. Double “B” over itself to form the
base loop of the tie
Bow Tie Knot 5 5. Loop “A” over the center of the loop
you just formed
Bow Tie Knot 6 6. Holding everything in place, double “A” back on itself and poke it through the loop behind the tie
Bow Tie Knot 7 7. Adjust the tie by tugging at the ends of it and straightening the center knot

If you can master the bow tie knot you should be able to handle tying the Four in Hand knot, Half Windsor knot, Full Windsor knot and the Pratt knot.
