Four in Hand Knot

Tying a four in hand knot is easy. In fact, it’s the easiest of all the tie knots. If you’re new to tying ties I would suggest you start with this one. Follow the step-by-step instructions below:

Four in hand knot 1
1. End “A” should extend about 12 inches below end “B”. Cross end “A” over top of end “B”
Four in hand knot 2
2. Fold end “A” underneath end “B”
Four in hand knot 3
3. Wrap end “A” back over the front of end “B”

4. Pull end “A” through the loop around your neck

5.Holding the front of the knot loosely with your index finger bring end “A” down through the front loop

6. Remove finger and tighten knot to collar by holding end “B” and sliding the knot up

Once you’ve mastered the four in hand knot go on and try these others: Windsor knot, Half Windsor knot, Pratt knot or if you’re feeling really adventurous try tying a Bow Tie.
