Windsor Knot

The Windsor knot creates a large, formal looking knot. It was supposedly invented by the Duke of Windsor. It is an excellent knot to use with spread collars and guys with long necks. Don’t use this knot with ties made of thick material. Follow the step-by-step instructions below:

Windsor Knot 1
1. End “A” should extend about 12 inches below end “B”. Cross end “A” over top of end “B”
Windsor Knot 2
2. Pull end “A” up through loop and then back down
Windsor Knot 3
3. Fold end “A” underneath end “B” and to the left, and back up through the loop again
Windsor Knot 4
4. Bring end “A” across the front of the tie
Windsor Knot 5
5. Bring end “A” up through the loop one last time
Windsor Knot 6
6. Pull end “A” down through the knot in front
Windsor Knot 7
7. Use both hands to tighten the knot and bring up to the collar

With the Full Windsor knot completed go ahead and try the Pratt knot, Four in Hand knot, Half Windsor knot or if you’re feeling really adventurous try tying a Bow Tie.
